About Nightshift
Nightshift is the data and analytics layer for AI agents. You connect a source once, write policy in plain rules, and any agent gets exactly the data you allow, enforced down to the row the moment it asks, served over MCP. We are a small, senior team in Pittsburgh and Miami. Our own agents run on Nightshift, governed by our own policies and our own audit log.
About the role
Our design system has rules with teeth: status is a word, never a dot; no pills; color is semantic and scarce; mono is for code only. You will live inside them and make them sing. The job is the full surface: the platform (a policy editor that shows its blast radius, an approvals queue with escalation pressure, an audit diff a regulator could read), the marketing site (where every artifact is a working miniature of the product), and the seams between them. You design in code; Figma is for thinking, not deliverables.
Representative projects
- Design the moment a draft policy shows its blast radius: thousands of recorded requests replayed into four numbers a human trusts
- Make the catalog feel inevitable: the page where an engineer sees exactly what an agent will and won't be able to read
- Build marketing artifacts that are real components of the product, so the hero never drifts from the app
- Kill a plausible-but-wrong pattern (a pulsing dot, a pill, a mono eyebrow) and write down why, so it stays dead
You may be a good fit if you
- Ship React and TypeScript comfortably and have a portfolio where restraint is the loudest thing in it
- Have made dense, data-heavy surfaces feel inevitable (observability, fintech, or developer tools)
- Hold opinions about tabular numerals
- Believe enterprise software is the most underdesigned surface in the industry, and take that personally
